25 years experience of engineering world-class wood-fired boilers have gone into Hargassner's WTH150-200 boiler series, which earned them a technology award at the 2009 BOIS ENERGIE exhibition - Europe's leading showcase for bioenergy.  The innovative combustion chamber design includes all the features you'd expect from a global leader - automatic de-ashing, Lambda combustion control and a heavy refractory lining - while providing a very small footprint for its output.

The WTH150-200 is available in two sizes, the 150 unit, which has an output range of 42-149kW, and the 200 unit, with an output range of 62-199kW.  Outside of these ranges, the boiler can automatically shut down and start up via it's automatic electronic ignition system, or can be teamed with an accumulator tank to ensure a smoother operating profile.  For loads beyond 200kW, two boilers of the same or different outputs from the Hargassner range can be combined to deliver a flexible heating system with an output of up to 400kW.

The WTH150-200 is suited to a wide variety of applications, ranging from hotels and schools through to small industrial applications and district heating micro-nets.  Sharing the cost and infrastructure of heating with wood via a district heating network or micro-net is very common in Europe, and in some parts of New Zealand, albeit with fossil fuels.  The modular nature of the WTH150-200 wood-fired boiler makes it particularly well suited to micro-nets, where up to 15 domestic properties can be served by a single boiler, or a number of closely spaced buildings can be linked using district heating pipes.  District heating is particularly suitable for towns with problem airsheds or for sites where there is common ownership of the buildings on a site, e.g. military camps, motel complexes, schools, colleges and council offices, or where an entrepreneur, company or community group want to benefit from the revenues of long-term heat sales to a range of customers.
