Fuel Transfer Systems

As you might expect from a manufacturer with such a wide range of boiler systems, Binder have a similarly comprehensive list of products designed to effectively move the fuel from store to boiler.  Starting with a 150mm auger at the bottom of the size range, and rising through the ranks to a chain conveyor over a meter wide, there is a fuel transfer system in the Binder range which can be matched to any application.

Augers

Available in three sizes : 150mm, 220mm and 330mm, Binder manufacture heavy-duty augers up to 12m in length.  Longer distances can be covered by using multiple augers, which can also be used to transport fuel around corners and up from below-ground fuel stores.

Binder's attention to detail in auger design and fabrication is second-to-none, with a range of safety, performance and maintenance features incorporated into augers and their ancillary equipment.  This includes the hardening of stoker augers, the incorporation of fill-level sensors, heat sensors linked to water-dousing tanks and electrically-operated distributor flaps.

Specially designed augers for pellets and wood briquettes are also available, with the briquette augers incorporating "teeth" to break up the briquettes on the way to the boiler.

The easy-flow characteristics of wood pellets make it by far the simplest wood fuel to recover from a storage bunker.  We can incorporate small-diameter pellet augers into a fuel store which we’ll design to fit almost any available space in a building.  Auger runs of almost any length can be provided, including corners and steep inclines.

The typically heavy duty construction and solid drive components mean the augers are low maintenance and have a high degree of blockage resistance.

Chain Conveyors

Available in sizes up to 1.03m wide, Binder design and manufacture industrial-scale chain conveyors to feed multi-megawatt boilers.  Built around a heavy-duty drag-chain conveyor with welded steel paddles, fuel is loaded onto the conveyor directly from a walking floor fuel recovery system.  The massive scale of these systems means they're able to cope with fuel at almost any quality, including pieces up to 300mm long.

Chain conveyors are typically only used on systems of 2MW and above to cope with the high fuel demand of boilers at this scale.

Ram-Feed

The final few meters into a high demand system is usually taken care of by a powerful hydraulic fuel-feed ram.  Constructed of 5mm sheet steel and strengthened with I beam sections, Binder's boiler feed ram is powerful enough to handle even the roughest of biomass fuels - even "chips" with the dimensions of a typical piece of firewood.
