Emissions

Air emissions are a hot topic in many parts of New Zealand, particularly the major cities and those South Island towns which have problem airsheds. Modern, purpose-built, woodfuel boilers can be part of the solution to this ongoing environmental problem.

Modern woodfuel systems are designed specifically to achieve very low levels of particulate emissions whilst at the same time maximising the overall efficiency of the system. Technologies such as Lambda oxygen sensors, exhaust gas recirculation, automatic boiler tube cleaning and achieving controlled, high-temperature, turbulent combustion are critical components in achieving low emissions.

All our technology partners have been chosen based on their industry-leading emissions levels and environmental performance, and a number of our installations have taken place in the New Zealand’s most tightly regulated airsheds.

Binder in particular have taken the reduction of emissions to new lows, with a range of innovative technologies and design features applied to the problem of achieving low particulate emissions. Such has been their success in meeting this challenge, that in the UK the entire Binder range up to 3000kW has been approved for use in Smoke Control Areas. The Smoke Control Areas were established in the 1950’s as a response to the deadly smogs which afflicted many towns and cities, and are underpinned by one of the most stringent pieces of legislation regulating boiler emissions anywhere in the world.

As local regulations and emissions profiles vary, please contact us to discuss your exact requirements.

We are also able to offer additional cutting-edge technology which is capable of reducing particulate emissions to almost zero to all projects. Please contact us for details.
